Merrychef to unveil new eikon series at Hotelympia
Merrychef, a Manitowoc Foodservice company, will launch its latest innovation, the eikon series of speed cooking ovens, at Hotelympia 2010 at Excel in London (28 February to 4 March).
Incorporating advanced EasyToUCH technology, the eikon series guarantees unbeatable ease of use via an icon driven screen and Menu-Connect software, according to the company.
EasyToUCH technology ensures operators are never more than two steps away from a cooking programme, available in multiple languages, while Menu-Connect enables instant menu management and ethernet updates via a standard USB key.
During the product development process for the new ovens, Merrychef engaged opinion of a cross section of customers from all foodservice sectors across the globe.
Merrychef managing director, Graham Veal, said: “The eikon series is eagerly anticipated in the global food service arena and we are excited about the positive feedback we have received from customer field trials. The energy and time savings created by this advanced accelerated cooking technology is just what busy kitchens, kiosks and convenience stores have been asking for.”
Heralding the eikon series, Andrew McCulloch, director of European operations at Subway, said: "EasyToUCH technology has launched modern day communication to our sandwich stations, it really is as simple to use as an iPod. The touch screen is familiar to all and will dramatically reduce training times and eliminate any risk of human error."
In addition to greater ease of use and energy efficiency, the streamlined designed eikon series incorporates a monitored, removable front filter for ease of cleaning, ventless facility (no investment in ventilation hood) and cool-to-touch skin. A ‘plug and play’ function means installation is easy, with a new oven up and running in just three minutes, according to Merrychef.
The eikon series incorporates the e3, e4 and e5 models. The e3 will replace existing ovens ec401 and ec403, the e4 replaces the current 402S model while the e5 supersedes the ec501. Both the e3 and e5 are also available with an in-built catalyst.
